Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin disease characterised mainly by the appearance of white or yellowish scales on the body parts where more fat tissue can be found, such as the face, scalp or inside the ear. If seborrheic dermatitis affects babies, it is called cradle cap.
Currently there is no known cause of seborrheic dermatitis. It seems to be hereditary but can also be caused by hormone levels, a weak immune system, lack of nutrients or a fungus called Malassezia.
