Endoscopic ultrasound is an exploratory procedure that allows visualising the interior walls of various organs and their structures (such as the oesophagus, stomach, intestines), as well as obtaining tissue samples and repairing any lesions found. Before performing this test, the doctor tells the patient how to prepare for it and the preparation depends on the organ to be explored. The procedure is performed by introducing an endoscope (thin, flexible tube with a small attached camera that transmits the images to a monitor) through the mouth or the anus and is guided to the area of interest. This way, a digestive endoscopy or a pancreas endoscopy can be performed in a few minutes, during which the doctor can carry out what is required, such as obtaining samples for analysis or repairing possible injuries.
