Digital smile design (DSD) is the application of computer technology to design and manufacture dental prostheses. Computer-controlled dental treatments are also used for implant diagnosis and surgery, making it minimally invasive. Using special software, the dentist can plan and create custom dental splints with better quality materials. Using DSD smile design reduces production costs, reduces the time of manufacture of crowns, veneers or bridges and reduces the number of visits the patient has to make. The DSD system consists of three phases: digitalisation of the data or scanning of the part to be restored, computer graphic design of the structure of the prosthesis DSD) and using a robot to manufacture. In surgery, this technology enables better planning, simulation of the operation and anticipation of the results of the procedure before performing it.
