They are alterations of the occipital bone, the foramen magnum or the first two cervical vertebrae. These anomalies diminish the space occupied by the brain stem and spinal cord and give rise to cerebral symptoms. Anomalies of the cervical skull junction include pathologies such as odontoid bone, high hypoplasia, and Chiari malformation.
